About Me and My Practice

Making, studying and looking at art has been, and always will be, a constant in my life. In many ways it defines me. It’s the way in which I view and experience the world. People are my most prominent subjects. I delight in depicting the unexpected flesh tones, varying angles and contrasting lights and darks that make up a sitter. I often use a realistic style to explore how we perceive ourselves, the emotions we express and the spiritual and unexpected of everyday life.
From an early age, I was taught key observational drawing and painting skills, which I developed further during the COVID-19 lockdowns. Though I was frustrated by missed opportunities, this period of isolation gave me the time and space to explore my artistic identity more fully. I studied Art History at the University of St Andrews, exploring the academic and critical engagement with art, enriching my own artistic practice. Despite not making art as part of my degree, I fulfilled my creative desires through a number of societies, learning how much I enjoyed developing art projects in collaboration with others.
I am a London-born artist who, having graduated in June 2024, is now based in Kent.
